Netflix has unveiled a new teaser for the second season of “Blue Eye Samurai” and announced the premiere date — January 19, 2027. The sequel will consist of six episodes and pick up immediately after the season one finale. This time, her quest for revenge will take Mizu to London, where she must track down the two remaining men on her list — Skeffington and Routely, one of whom may be her father.
The creators have already hinted at the trials awaiting the heroine in the English capital:
“1657 London was rife with crime, echoing our Japan story in many ways. Mizu will have to navigate this dark underbelly in a Puritanical society where women were prosecuted as witches, bars and theaters were shuttered, and even Christmas was banned. If you know Mizu, she doesn’t take well to oppression, especially when it gets in the way of her revenge. [...] Mizu is an elemental force: we’re placing a volatile element into an unstable environment and waiting for the chain reaction.”
Meanwhile, the storyline in Japan will continue to unfold in its own right. Akemi and Taigen will find themselves in Edo Castle under the rule of a dangerous new shogun, while Ringo will try to find his place in life after everything he has been through.
Maya Erskine will return as Mizu. The voice cast will also be joined by Jonathan Pryce, Joel Kim Booster, and Sherry Cola.
The story will not end there: Netflix has confirmed that the third season will be the final one and will be released in 2028. According to Green and Noizumi, they knew how Mizu's journey would end from the very first episode. Thanks to the audience's support, they will now be able to bring her story to its originally intended finale.
