Journalists have begun publishing reviews of the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2. Critics are absolutely thrilled, calling the updated version of the game virtually the best game of the era.
Reviews particularly emphasize the successful combination of classic dungeon and world design with modern mechanics. One reviewer noted that Nintendo managed to bridge two eras of the franchise, creating not just a gorgeous retelling of the legendary story, but a full-fledged adventure capable of engaging even those familiar with the original.

Another critic called the remake “a stunning reimagining of the original,” particularly highlighting the impressive visuals and significantly improved audio. In his words, this is the most beautiful game ever made by Nintendo, and undoubtedly the best way to experience one of the most important games in the history of the industry.
However, the updated version has its shortcomings as well. One reviewer pointed out that Nintendo took a fairly cautious approach to the rework: despite numerous minor changes, players are still essentially facing the same game. Consequently, veterans of the original Ocarina of Time and the remake for Nintendo 3DS might find the adventure too simple. A particularly noticeable omission is the lack of Master Quest or at least a separate higher difficulty mode.
