Apparently, Sony is gradually winding down support for PlayStation VR2. The company has removed its flagship VR headset from the official PlayStation Direct store in the US and Japan — the device’s two largest markets.
According to journalists from Road to VR, the headset disappeared from the PlayStation Direct catalog back in mid-October 2026. However, in some other regions, including the UK and France, the PSVR2 remains available for purchase for now.

In the nearly three years since the launch of PlayStation VR2, Sony has failed to provide the headset with notable support in the form of new projects. An additional alarming sign for VR headset owners was the company’s recent decision to sell part of its VR patents to competitor Meta*.
It is not yet known whether Sony is truly abandoning PlayStation VR2 for good or if this is merely an issue with supply chains. The company has made no official statements regarding the fate of the headset.
