CI Games has released a new developer diary for Lords of the Fallen II dedicated to large-scale changes to the combat system. In the nearly hour-long video, creative director Ryan Hill and other studio representatives explained how the sequel will expand melee, magic, and ranged combat capabilities. One of the developers’ main goals was to increase the variety of combat styles and create more flexible hybrid builds.
Separate stances will be provided for mages, maintaining the mobility of standard melee combat. At the same time, spellcasters will be able to prepare up to four spells simultaneously on one catalyst and four more on a second.
Mana management will also change: it will now be possible to replenish it using the Sanguinarix without using consumables. In total, seven schools of magic will appear in the game. Ranged weapons will also become more practical: basic ammunition will be infinite, while more powerful projectiles can be replenished at specific points in the game world.
