Nintendo published its financial report for the first half of fiscal year 2027, demonstrating mixed results. Despite growth in software sales and intellectual property revenue, sales of both company consoles declined noticeably.
According to the report, Nintendo Switch sales fell by 37.4% year-over-year, while Nintendo Switch 2 sales dropped by 32.7%. At the same time, game sales showed positive momentum: software sales for Switch 2 grew by 18.8%, and for the original Switch by 6.8%.

Among the most successful releases were Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, which sold 8.81 million copies in six months, and Rhythm Heaven Groove, with sales reaching 2.89 million copies.
At the same time, total revenue for Nintendo's gaming division decreased by 15.3% year-over-year. The company attributes this, among other factors, to the ongoing weakening of the Japanese yen. In addition, operating profit in the second quarter fell by 16%, although this result was in line with Nintendo's own expectations.
Despite the not-so-impressive figures, investors reacted positively to the publication of the report: Nintendo shares rose by 6.3%. One reason may have been the high gross profit—in the first six months of the fiscal year, it increased by 22.1%. Nintendo attributes this to strong game sales, as well as the refund of U.S. tariffs previously factored into the cost of sales.
