A documentary film about the Canadian studio BioWare titled Massive Effect: The BioWare Story is in the works. Initially conceived as a story about the rise of one of the gaming industry's most renowned studios, the project shifted after Electronic Arts abruptly shut down BioWare in October 2026, prompting the filmmakers to also cover its final days.

According to Deadline, the documentary is being produced for the Canadian television network Super Channel. Its representatives noted they are particularly proud to tell the story of BioWare, as the company itself is based in Edmonton. The film will spotlight the people, creativity, and innovative storytelling approach that allowed the studio to create several fan-favorite franchises.
