Trench Crusade creators launch charity campaign with STL files for new “Winged Hussars”

Gamers wishing to 3D print new miniatures for the Trench Crusade tabletop game and help raise money for artist Karl Kopinski’s medical treatment can now purchase the “Winged Hussar” STL pack. Backers will also have the opportunity to receive more than 200 miniature STL files from 24 creators participating in the campaign.

Publisher Factory Fortress and the MyMiniFactory platform have launched a crowdfunding and charity campaign. Through it, backers can obtain two brand-new STL files for the Trench Crusade tabletop game and support artist Karl Kopinski. The set is titled “Winged Hussar”.

Karl drew the artwork the team worked from, while the “Winged Hussar” miniature itself was sculpted by James Sherriff. The STL pack includes both foot and mounted versions with various weapon options.

Since Trench Crusade currently has no rules for cavalry, the mounted version is intended primarily for painters and collectors. However, the foot version is fully playable—using the rules and stats of the Mamluk Faris mercenary.

Karl Kopinski is a legendary illustrator whose grim and realistic style has shaped tabletop gaming aesthetics for more than three decades. For over a year, Karl has been battling a serious illness, and from the moment Factory Fortress staff first heard about it, they decided to help.

All campaign profits will go toward covering Karl’s medical expenses, with any surplus donated to charity. Currently, the STL files can be purchased for 8.95 euros (817 rubles).

For 88.95 euros (8,125 rubles), one can also buy the “All-In” set. It contains not only the new hussars, but also over 200 miniature STL files from 24 participating creators. There is also a custom support tier for 43.95 euros (4,014 rubles). It does not include the new hussars, unfortunately, but it allows backers to choose 10 bundles from the participating creators.

Currently, these STL files are available exclusively through the charity campaign. After it concludes on December 14, 2026, the miniatures will still be available for purchase on MyMiniFactory, but at a slightly higher price.
