Netflix has unveiled the main trailer and a fresh poster for the dark anime “Fool Night”, based on the manga by Kasumi Yasuda. The video also features the series’ theme songs: the opening theme "Shake! spit out" by the band Tempalay and the ending theme "iki" performed by Nowlu.

The story is set in the distant future, where Earth has been hidden from sunlight beneath a thick blanket of clouds for an entire century. Most plant life has perished, and humanity finds itself on the brink of oxygen deprivation. In search of salvation, scientists developed transfloration — a technology that allows seeds to be implanted into the bodies of dying people, turning them into plants.
Toshiro Kamiya is barely making ends meet and desperately seeking money for medicine for his sick mother. Seeing no other way out of poverty, he agrees to transfloration. However, after the procedure, Toshiro discovers an unusual ability: he can hear the voices of people who have turned into plants. This gift catches the attention of the medical facility where his surgery was performed, and the protagonist is hired to work there. Soon, he is tasked with assisting in the investigation of a series of murders, with one of the transfloration subjects becoming the prime suspect.
“Fool Night” marks the first collaborative project between studios Sunrise and SHAFT. It is directed by Atsushi Yukawa, with Jin Tanaka handling the series composition. All episodes will be released on Netflix on November 26, 2026.
