Twin Engine has announced the anime “Spirit Circle”, based on the manga of the same name by Satoshi Mizukami, and presented its first trailer.
Fourteen-year-old Fuuta Okeya can see ghosts. When Kouko Ishigami transfers into his class, she notices the mark he hides beneath a bandage on his cheek and declares him her enemy. The girl claims that she left that mark herself in one of their past lives, and now intends to kill Fuuta’s soul and break the cycle of reincarnation. To uncover the reasons behind such long-standing hatred, Fuuta will have to relive his own past incarnations — from deep antiquity to the distant future.
“Spirit Circle” became the final directorial work of Tatsuo Sato, who directed the series “Ninja Scroll” and “Martian Successor Nadesico”, and also worked on the storyboards for an episode of the original “Shaman King”. Following his death in April 2026, the anime was completed by studios NAGOMI and EOTA under the supervision of assistant director Kentaro Mizuno.
“Spirit Circle” will consist of 18 episodes and will begin airing in December 2026. The exact premiere date has not yet been announced.
