Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 received almost two hours of gameplay, which was posted online by blogger theRadBrad.
The material should give players the opportunity to get acquainted with the atmosphere of the World of Darkness and Seattle, controlled by vampire factions. The community's reaction was mixed. Many note the dark atmosphere and characteristic moral choices, but some players complain about the animations, insufficiently smooth combat, and customization.
The scenes shown focus on exploring the city, seducing and manipulating mortals, and using supernatural abilities in combat. As in the first part, violating the Masquerade — revealing one's true nature — has serious consequences. At first, the hero is pursued by services, and with further violations, dangerous opponents may appear. These mechanics should increase tension, but in the demo, they do not fully justify themselves.
The criticism was also influenced by the dispute surrounding special editions. Paradox Interactive stated that some vampire clans — key to gameplay and the variety of choices — will only be available in expensive versions, which caused fan dissatisfaction and concerns about content fragmentation from release.
