It turns out that working with Unreal Engine 5 remains a difficult task. Many developers are struggling with the engine's peculiarities, leading to animation slowdowns not only on consoles but also on high-performance PCs.
Regarding Snake Eater, Digital Foundry notes serious performance issues. On PS5 in performance mode, the frame rate drops to 35 fps, which came as an unpleasant surprise.
The situation is even worse on PS5 Pro. Sony's new console offers no choice of graphics modes, but this does not add stability: the frame rate here is often lower than on the standard PS5 version. "The average performance on PS5 Pro is noticeably worse," the experts conclude.
Even in 30 fps mode on PS5, the game does not maintain stability: the frame rate suffers, and drops reach 25 fps.
According to Digital Foundry's analysis, the remake runs on PS5 in the range of 720p to 1080p (in performance mode), and on PS5 Pro from 756p to 1152p.
Reviewers point out graphical flaws in the project on Unreal Engine 5.
