Randy Pitchford shared his concerns in a conversation with Insider-Gaming - the difficulty in Borderlands 4 has increased, but not all fans of the franchise are interested in overcoming difficulties.
The developers have taken this into account; in Borderlands 4, it will be possible to grind if difficulties arise:
"We have many players who are not really interested in difficult and serious challenges; many people who just love exploring the world of Borderlands or spending time with the characters.
I'm a little nervous because there are moments in Borderlands 4 that are more challenging, but one of the coolest things about Borderlands 4, thanks to the nature of RPGs, is that if something is a little difficult for you - you can just grind somewhere, level up, and get stronger.
You'll find that things that seemed difficult when you were a newbie will become easy when you become a cool player.
However, we have definitely made the challenges significantly more difficult, especially with regard to bosses and boss fight mechanics."
