The film may premiere only in 2027.
The Gears of War adaptation will not appear on screens in 2026, simultaneously with the release of Gears of War: E-Day. This was announced by producer Kelly McCormick in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
According to McCormick, the team is currently actively working on the project, and there is great enthusiasm for it from both Netflix and the developers of the latest Gears of War games from The Coalition studio.
The film will not be tied to a specific game release date, so that the creators can focus on quality rather than rushing for synergy with the release of Gears of War: E-Day.
The screenplay for the film is being written by Jon Spaihts, known for his work on "Prometheus" and "Dune". David Leitch, who directed the films "Deadpool 2" and "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw", will direct the project.
