LEGO Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight Authors Say They Borrowed From Rocksteady's Batman Arkham
When working on the new LEGO game, they looked to the experience of colleagues in the industry.
The developers of LEGO Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight are gradually beginning to reveal details of the project and production secrets. It recently became known from them how the Batman Arkham game series from Rocksteady influenced the project.
TT Games Strategic Director Jonathan Smith said:
«When we think today about embodying Batman as a character in a video game, we are, of course, inspired by the generation-defining work that our friends and colleagues at Rocksteady Studios brilliantly did in the Arkham series.
As a starting point, we took the feeling of the [protagonist's] environment with enemies, smooth combos, counterattacks and takedowns [a technique to neutralize a target with 1 hit]. We wanted all of this to be in the game».
Smith clarified that LEGO Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight will not be as harsh as Arkham - the team has its own vision:
«In addition, we are, in a sense, making [the game] more accessible to young gamers. We also wanted to bring our own LEGO approach to expand the possibilities of gadgets»
