Some ASRock motherboard owners are in no hurry to update the BIOS. One of them already has two dead Ryzen 7 9800X3D processors.

Complaints about "burning" AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processors and other high-performance models continue to appear online. One Reddit user with the nickname RedYourDead reported that two such processors failed within three months. The first stopped working after six months of operation on BIOS firmware version 3.15, the second after two months after updating to version 3.25.

ASRock previously stated that BIOS version 3.25 should fix compatibility issues between 800-series boards and Ryzen 9000 processors, but the firmware did not completely resolve them. Later, the company released BIOS 3.40, which optimized PBO parameters and improved memory performance. So far, no cases of processor failure have been recorded on version 3.40.

ASRock and AMD claim that the processors themselves have no factory defects. The source of the problem is in incorrect settings of motherboards. Manufacturers strongly recommend installing the latest version of BIOS and contacting support in case of any failures.

However, many motherboard owners either do not know about the need for an update, or encounter errors in the proprietary App Shop application, which does not display available BIOS versions.
