The audience of Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 has already exceeded 7 million players — in the first year of project support. The head of Saber Interactive studio spoke about the success of the project in an interview with IGN.
Tim Willits believes that the decision to postpone the release date of Space Marine 2 is the "smartest" move in the studio's history — the project was able to be polished, and success is also associated with the game's distribution strategy:
«It wasn't on any subscription service. If you want to play it, you have to buy it. And the price for it is not too high. It's not too big. It's not overloaded with details.»
The developers approached this game with a lot of experience — they took into account the lessons of World War Z (after a successful start, the authors were not ready for active project support). Therefore, they began preparing for the post-release support of Space Marine 2 even before the game was released.
Now Saber plans to make Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 3, as well as support the second part.
