Some didn't appreciate being deprived of adult games on Steam and other services.

Recently, various adult games have been removed from Steam. This is due to pressure from payment systems.

The organization Collective Shout, which opposes the sexualization of women in media, has taken responsibility for what is happening.

Reportedly, they have been subjected to gamer backlash. It is claimed that a harassment campaign has begun against the organization: "The organization is now working with lawyers, the FBI, and even the UN" in response to threats, including death threats.

In an interview with Tweaktown, Collective Shout's campaign manager, Caitlin Roper, stated:

"Judging by the reaction to our campaign, the men who are threatening [to use violence against us] and kill us, publishing our personal data, creating and distributing illegal images with insults (adult content with our faces), sending us these materials with elements of violence and illegal content [...]

It is obvious that many of the men who defend their games with [violence] commit violent crimes against women, as they are doing it to us right now. These men make it clear that the misogynistic sentiments needed to [play such games] and defend them are not limited to fiction and video games, and that they will and do commit violence against real women around the world."
