Recently, an updated version of the classic RTS Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War Definitive Edition was released. A user with the nickname Vampire_2008 decided to present the "sound and text Russifier".

The enthusiast spoke about the work done and the nuances of the created Russifier:

  • Russian and English archives were unpacked. All non-conversational sounds (buildings, groans, etc.) were removed from the Russian ones. The remaining files were uploaded to the unpacked English ones. And then everything was packed.
  • All sounds that are present in DoW and WA, as well as DC sounds from the Soulstorm archive, were removed from the Dark Crusade and Soulstorm archives.
  • In Dark Crusade and Soulstorm, new units sometimes had additional versions of phrases, but in a different intonation. There was no such thing in Russian, so all these additional files were deleted.
  • For the dark eldar and sisters of battle in the English archives, a "small pack of untranslated phrases and groaning sounds that were for some reason absent in the Russian version" was found. Because of all this, English words may sometimes slip through in the speeches of units.
  • All unit sounds come from the Russobit-M version, except for those who did not translate them. For them, versions from Buka.
  • Fonts were taken from the Russobit-M version, because "they look more like the original ones."
  • In Defenitive Editon, commanders from younger versions are used in battles — corresponding sounds were installed for them.
