Amazon to Start Filming God of War Series in March 2026 - Insider
The adaptation of Kratos' Scandinavian adventures is gradually gaining details.
Amazon MGM Studios is preparing to film the God of War series. According to sources at Nexus Point News, production will begin in March 2026 in Vancouver, and casting for the project is already in full swing.
Ronald D. Moore will serve as showrunner. The writing team includes Matthew Graham (“Electric Dreams of Philip K. Dick”), Stefanie Shannon, Naren Shankar, and Jo Menosky (all worked with Moore on “For All Mankind”), Mark Bernardin (“The Continental”, “Star Trek: Picard”), and Tanya Lotia (“The Witcher”).
The writers are adapting God of War (2018) - the story of an aging Kratos who has started a new life in the world of Scandinavian mythology. After his wife's death, he and his son Atreus embark on a dangerous journey to fulfill her last wish - to scatter her ashes from the top of the Nine Realms.
At Comic-Con in San Diego, Ronald Moore noted that work on the script is progressing actively, and the depth of the game's mythology was a real discovery for him. According to him, the series will retain the dark, epic tone of the original.
The release date of the series and other details have not yet been disclosed.
