Amazon has launched a series based on Life is Strange, but completely bypassed the original writers, which is causing concern among some fans.
Usually, when creating video game adaptations, studios try to involve the original developers — for consultations, script adaptation, and other forms of participation that help preserve the spirit of the original source.
However, according to Christian Divine, the main writer and co-author of the original game, the development team was completely excluded from working on the series. On the social network X, he commented on the situation by reposting the announcement of Amazon MGM Studios with the words: «The only people not involved are the creators».
Life is Strange, developed by Dontnod Entertainment with the participation of Divine and Jean-Luc Cano, has become a cult game known for its emotional storylines and unique narrative style. The new adaptation is being created by Amazon MGM Studios. Charlie Covell, the author of the series "The End of the F***ing World", is the writer, showrunner, and executive producer.
The producers also include Square Enix, Story Kitchen, and LuckyChap, Margot Robbie's production company.
Fans in the comments expressed concern, fearing that without the participation of the original team, the series may lose the spirit of the game. However, opinions were divided: some viewers believe that the developers were not invited precisely because of the second part, which many perceived negatively.
In turn, Charlie Covell stated that she is a fan of Life is Strange, is looking forward to the opportunity to tell the story of Max and Chloe to viewers, and intends to please both longtime fans and a new audience.
