The second season of The Last of Us adaptation began its awards season with a win at the Creative Arts Emmy, but the fate of Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey is yet to be decided.
The second season of "The Last of Us" has already brought HBO its first statuette at the 77th Emmy Awards. At the Creative Arts Emmy ceremony in Los Angeles, the series won in the category of "Outstanding Sound Editing for a Drama Series" — the award went to the second episode of the season titled "Through the Valley." This is the first and so far only victory out of 16 nominations.
The Creative Arts Emmy traditionally focuses on achievements in technical and production categories — from editing and makeup to design and sound. However, the main attention of viewers and critics is riveted to the final ceremony, which will take place on September 14.
It is there that the fate of key nominations will be decided, including "Best Drama Series," as well as acting awards — in particular, for Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, who played the roles of Joel and Ellie.
Pascal is nominated for Best Actor in a Drama, Ramsey for Best Actress. Joe Pantoliano (Eugene), Jeffrey Wright (Isaac), Kaitlyn Dever (Abby), and Catherine O’Hara (Gail) were also included in the category for Best Guest Roles — each for participating in separate episodes of the second season.
The first season of The Last of Us received 24 nominations and eventually won eight Emmys, including for editing, visual effects, titles, prosthetic makeup, and sound design. In the acting categories, Storm Reid and Nick Offerman were recognized, receiving awards for Best Guest Roles. However, Pedro Pascal himself was left without a statuette then — and the second season may be his chance for revenge.
