Randy Pitchford has once again decided to give the gaming community a reason to discuss his statements.
Gearbox Software recently announced the system requirements for Borderlands 4, and they turned out to be quite high for many players. Studio CEO Randy Pitchford commented on the situation, urging users with PCs that do not meet the minimum specifications to be "realistic" in their expectations of the game's performance.
The minimum requirements to run Borderlands 4 include a 64-bit processor with 8 cores, 16 GB of RAM, a video card with 8 GB of video memory (such as NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT), and 100 GB of free SSD space. Recommended specifications: Intel Core i7-12700 or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X processor, 32 GB of RAM, and a video card with 12 GB of video memory, such as NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT.
Pitchford noted that the high requirements are due to the use of Unreal Engine 5 and the developers' desire to create the highest quality gaming experience. However, according to the Steam Hardware Survey, about half of Steam users do not have a processor with 8 cores, making the game inaccessible to a significant portion of the audience without an upgrade.
