Although Roblox set a personal record for downloads in August, it failed to maintain its revenue leadership. And the collaboration between Honkai: Star Rail and the Fate franchise only benefited one side.
Mobilegamer.biz published August's mobile game revenue statistics based on data from AppMagic (excluding the Chinese Android segment).
Tencent's MOBA, Honor of Kings, became the revenue leader. After a spring and summer decline, the game returned to $170-175 million per month. However, Roblox, whichset a personal record for downloads in August, only managed to earn $157 million on mobile platforms.
PUBG Mobile closes out the top three, collecting over $130 million - its best performance since January 2023. In August, the shooter held a collaboration with "Transformers" and launched a new battle pass.
The month was worst for Love and Deepspace and Honkai: Star Rail - both games dropped out of the top 20 and fell to 28th place in the ranking. Love and Deepspace lost 10 positions compared to July, while Honkai lost 20. Star Rail's revenue plummeted from $70 million to $24 million.
Against this backdrop, Fate/Grand Order suddenly "shot up", rising to 12th place in the ranking and earning $55.7 million - its best result since August 2022. It is noteworthy that Honkai: Star Rail is currently running a collaboration with the Fate franchise, which seems to have attracted attention to the original game but did not save Star Rail from falling.
However, it is worth noting that the collab started back in July and still played a role: then Honkai: Star Rail rose to eighth place in revenue and showed one of the best results of the year.
