A leak revealed that Battlefield 6 will bring back the dirt and dust on weapons feature, familiar from previous installments in the series, such as Battlefield 1.
Players will see how, when moving around the map, weapons gradually become covered in dirt and dust, making the gameplay more realistic - weapons do not remain perfectly clean, regardless of what is happening on the screen.
Although this is a minor detail, together with other visual and sound elements, it will increase the level of immersion. It is important to note that the feature was absent in Battlefield 2042.
The developers are using the time after the beta tests to refine the details, and through Battlefield Labs, players can follow the innovations before release. The test environment does not reflect the final version, but there is hope that the dirt on weapons feature will remain.
Battlefield 6 will be released on October 10, 2025.
