The film is not expected to premiere before 2027.
Producer Roy Lee shared key details about the upcoming BioShock film adaptation in an exclusive interview with The Direct. Lee confirmed that the film will be based on the plot of the first game in the series, released in 2007.
[The film] will definitely be based on the first BioShock.
Lee also noted that Netflix prefers to keep the details of the project secret, but confirmed its fidelity to the original source.
The script for BioShock is currently being finalized, and filming will begin after work on The Hunger Games: Dawn of the Reaping is completed. Thus, the film should not be expected to premiere before 2027.
