The updated edition of the game will appear on Switch 2 in the fall; owners of the original will be able to upgrade for free.
ConcernedApe has announced Stardew Valley – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition — an updated version of the popular farming simulator, adapted to the capabilities of the new Nintendo console. The release is scheduled for the fall of 2025, and users who purchased the game on the first Switch will receive a free upgrade.
The native version will offer a number of technical and gameplay improvements. Among the innovations are mouse control support, local co-op for four players in split-screen mode, and online multiplayer for eight people. The game will support the GameShare feature, which will allow up to four users to play together online, even if only one of them has a copy.
The original Stardew Valley was released on PC in 2016 and has since appeared on all major platforms — from Xbox and PlayStation to mobile devices. It debuted on Nintendo Switch in October 2017 and quickly became one of the most popular indie games on the platform.
