Offworld studio has launched a "free weekend" promotion to introduce players to the new version of the game on the Unreal Engine 5.5.
Tactical shooter Squad has become temporarily free on Steam — the promotion will last until Monday, September 15. Offworld Industries timed the free access to coincide with the release of update 9.0, which marked the game's transition to the Unreal Engine 5.5 and introduced dozens of improvements.
Squad left early access back in 2020 and over the years has become one of the notable representatives of the tactical online shooter genre. Despite competition from Hell Let Loose, Insurgency: Sandstorm and Arma 3, the Offworld project continues to actively develop and expand the community.
