It was decided not to set a high Metacritic score bar for Anthem.
Former BioWare producer Mark Darrah continues to share his work memories. Recently, he decided to talk about Anthem (2019).
Back in September-October 2018, the authors of Anthem understood the problems and that the game would have a "hot" reception. At the same time, the manager who oversaw issues related to BioWare set a target score on Metacritic.
Prior to that, the developers of Anthem did not have any specific goal, and now it was clearly stated that they should aim for 70 out of 100 points. Darrah noted that when working on games at BioWare, they strived to get 90+ Metacritic points.
As a result, Anthem failed to reach even the reduced bar, as of September 2025, the game has 59 out of 100 points on Metacritic.
