Recently, the narrative director of Vampire The MasqueradeBloodlines 2 spoke with PCGamesN. Ian Thomas commented on the impact of the highly publicized Baldur's Gate 3 on the team's work.
The creator explained that Bloodlines 2 was created as a "role-playing module" — a compact and complete project that offers a structured narrative, rather than boundless freedom of action.
After the release of Baldur's Gate 3, some fans of the RPG genre began to form certain (high) expectations, and Thomas noted that Bloodlines 2 will not have that level of freedom:
"[Did the success of BG3 complicate the development of Bloodlines 2?] I think it's safe to say that it did. There's a feeling that we have to allow [something] to be discovered and [everything] to be customized from a completely clean slate. However, if you're telling a specific story, I think you need a framework into which you can "pour" it, like into a mold. If you completely open up all the possibilities and put someone in a certain space, how do you make that character a pillar of the story?"
The release of Vampire The MasqueradeBloodlines 2 is expected on October 21.
