The first players have already entered the virtual fields of EA Sports FC 26. It's interesting to see how the game looks on different consoles.
EA Sports FC 26 has appeared on two generations of PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo. For Switch 2, this is the first installment after the console's release, and the developers have tried to utilize the new device's capabilities.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version is a hybrid of old and new generations: the game uses lighting and Hypermotion technology known from PS5, but compromises have to be made.
The quality of hair, textures, and physics are simplified compared to more powerful consoles, but visually the game looks noticeably better than on PS4. The main surprise is the frame rate: PS4 maintains 60 fps, while Switch 2 only runs at 30 fps at the same resolution.
This decision is risky, as smoothness is critical in sports games. EA decided to increase the detail of the graphics at the expense of animation. For some players, especially fans of online matches where every frame matters, this could be a problem.
