Kadokawa has announced the delay of the anime \"Girl Gamers Don't Play Fighting Games\" to 2026. Originally, the adaptation of Eri Edzima's manga of the same name was planned for release in 2025, but now the release has been postponed. The reason given was a \"correction to the production schedule.\"
As compensation, the studio presented new promotional materials, including a joint visual with Street Fighter 6 — the fighting game that the heroines play in the story.
In addition, the project's participation in the Tokyo Game Show 2025 has been confirmed. From September 25 to 28, the anime will be presented at a joint booth with the accessories manufacturer Mad Catz, which specializes in arcade controllers, among other things.
Eri Edzima's manga has been published since 2020 in Monthly Comic Flapper magazine and currently has nine volumes.
