Digital Foundry has confirmed unpleasant news for PS5 Pro owners. Silent Hill f is unlikely to please owners of the high-performance version of the Sony console.
Technical analysis showed that on PS5 Pro, the game only works in Enhanced mode — a mix of Performance and Quality from the base PS5, providing a stable 60 frames per second and an average resolution. The problem is that PSSR technology is activated on the Pro, causing unpleasant visual effects.
The main disadvantage is the constant flickering of grass due to the detail algorithm, as well as strange lighting problems at a medium distance from the character. In other games, such as Dragon’s Dogma 2 or Assassin’s Creed Shadows, PSSR can be disabled manually or special settings can be selected for Pro. In Silent Hill f, there are no such options, so PS5 Pro users are forced to put up with the defects until a fix is released by Konami.
- PS5 Performance Mode: resolution ~1080p, stable 60 fps.
- PS5 Quality Mode: resolution ~1440p, slightly sharper and with fewer artifacts.
- PS5 Pro Enhanced Mode: resolution slightly above 1080p, visual artifacts due to PSSR, 60 fps mostly stable, but no noticeable improvement compared to the regular PS5.
Earlier, information appeared from blogger ElAnalistaDeBits: on the standard PS5, performance mode drops to 360p–720p. On PS5 Pro, the situation is slightly better — a stable resolution of 720p.
