The prequel series to the "It" adaptation will delve deeper into the mythology of King's universe and, for the first time, show the arrival of ancient evil in Derry.
The series "It: Welcome to Derry" will be released on HBO next month. It is set in 1962 and is based on interludes from Stephen King's novel, while also serving as a prequel to the films "It" (2017) and "It 2" (2019), which were also directed by Andrés Muschietti.
The first full trailer shows how ancient evil invades the life of a provincial town in Maine. Against the backdrop of people disappearing and other strange events, a group of teenagers and adults begins their own investigation. The plot focuses on the rise of Pennywise and the first manifestations of his influence on the residents of Derry. For the first time in the adaptation, It's arrival on Earth will be shown, as well as other elements of King's mythology that were previously left behind the scenes.
Bill Skarsgård not only reprised the terrifying antagonist on screen, but also became one of the project's producers.
The production of "It: Welcome to Derry" is handled by HBO and Warner Bros. Television. Andrés Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs are working on the project. Fuchs, the writer of the pilot episode, serves as co-showrunner along with Caleb Kane. Andrés Muschietti also directs several episodes.
The premiere of "It: Welcome to Derry" will take place on October 26 on HBO Max.
