Owlcat Games approached the development of Warhammer 40,000 Dark Heresy with a wealth of experience in cRPG development.

Recently, a PCGamesN journalist asked producer Anatoly Shestov about what the team learned after the launch of Rogue Trader and how they plan to avoid similar problems.

He said that the studio has many passionate people and they make projects that they themselves want to play:

«...therefore, when we encounter any difficulties or something that can be improved, we don't act like adults in game development; instead, we act like Vietnamese commandos with a knife and a mission: \"Do it or die\"».

Shestov also noted that the developers are more ambitious with Dark Heresy than they were with Rogue Trader. However, now, according to the producer, everything is different: "From my point of view, the difference is that the team knows exactly what it wants and how to achieve it."

The team relies more on data when determining development timelines. "It's like: \"I know you think you can do this boss in a week, but the verified data says it will take three weeks, not one\". That's why we manage to mitigate some of the difficulties that arose during the previous production."
