At the Egoist Fest 2025 event, the creators of "Blue Lock" presented two new projects at once.
The sports anime "Blue Lock" will get a third season, which will be based on the "Neo Egoist League" arc. The events will continue the story after the match against the Japan U-20 youth team. Youth teams from the leading football powers of Europe — Germany, France, Italy, England and Spain — will arrive at the Blue Lock training center.
Players will have to choose where to train and prove their strength in the confrontation with the best juniors in the world and their mentors. Only a few will be included in the updated Japanese national team to participate in the Youth World Championship.
In addition to the anime, the franchise will go beyond animation: in the summer of 2026, a live-action film will premiere. Details about the plot and cast have not yet been disclosed. The picture will be produced by Credeus Studio, and distributed by Toho.
Apparently, the release will be timed to coincide with the 23rd FIFA World Cup, which will be held from June to July 2026.
The original manga by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura has been published since 2018. To date, the series has 35 volumes and has sold over 50 million copies. In 2021, "Blue Lock" received the Kodansha Manga Award for Best Shonen Manga.
