In addition to new console revisions, Sony may be preparing an updated DualSense with a feature that users have long requested.

Sony is preparing an updated version of the DualSense controller for PlayStation 5 with the ability to replace the battery. This is reported by the Polish publication PPE, which previously correctly predicted the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on Sony consoles.

Traditionally, PlayStation controllers have come with non-removable batteries. This approach eliminated the need to use batteries and seemed convenient, but in practice, built-in batteries lose capacity over time, and replacing them requires disassembling the device.

Unlike competitors' solutions, where the battery can be replaced independently, DualSense users faced limitations. Therefore, some fans have long called on Sony to release a version of the controller with a removable battery, and now, according to rumors, this may become a reality.

It was previously reported that Sony is preparing to launch a new PS5 Pro model with the index CFI-7121 on the European market, which should become more energy efficient. It is possible that the updated gamepad will debut simultaneously with the console.

As a reminder, Sony previously released an updated version of the PS5 Slim with a reduced SSD volume to 825 GB without any major announcements. Analysts attribute this to an attempt to keep console prices down, while Microsoft has raised the cost of some of its models by $50–200 over the past year.
