In 2026, it will be a quarter of a century since the release of the first free platformer version, which once became a hit in school computer science lessons and gathered an audience of 40 million players. Creators Johan Peitz and Anders "Neo" Svensson decided to remind about the project again and invited famous pixel art artists — Rudy Flores and Franka.
Although the concept of endless ascent remains the same, the new version of Icy Tower has received serious improvements. The tower will constantly change, and each run will be unique. Players will have to build combo jumps to score points and use the push-off function. The graphics have been completely updated, the animation has become smoother, the music has been recorded live, and the controls promise to be as accurate as possible. The game will feature bonuses that can save you from falling, the ability to share replays, and a set of heroes with their own style.
The project will go on sale on Steam in 2026.
