Filming of Zack Kreger's new Resident Evil adaptation will begin soon. Against this background, the names of three more actors who have joined the project have become known.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Zach Cherry (Severance), Kali Reis (True Detective) and Johnno Wilson (Metal Twister) have joined the cast of the new Resident Evil.
Zach Cherry will play a scientist working in a hospital. Kali Reis got the role of a former soldier - according to the publication, this character was originally created for a male actor. Wilson's role is being kept secret.
The new adaptation will not directly retell the events of the original games, but will offer an independent story that unfolds in parallel with the events of Resident Evil 2 and 3, but in mood closer to Resident Evil 4.
The plot will focus on a courier who, in the middle of the night, must deliver a mysterious package to a hospital in Raccoon City, but finds himself drawn into a chain of events that leads him to the epicenter of the zombie epidemic. It was previously reported that Austin Abrams (The Guns) will play the main role.
Zach Kreger, who made his mark this year with the horror film "The Guns", is the director and co-writer of the script. He is working on the script together with Shay Hatten, known for the third and fourth parts of "John Wick". Production is carried out with the support of Constantin Film, PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures.
Filming of the film will begin in October in Prague, and the premiere in cinemas is scheduled for September 18, 2026.
