A new version of Edain has been released — one of the largest mods for The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth II. The update added twenty new maps.
The real-time strategy continues to actively evolve thanks to fans. The new version of Edain 4.8.3 has brought significant changes.
The mod has received twenty new maps. Twelve of them are reworked and improved old fan projects designed for two, four, and six players. Also, seven maps are built around a new type of building (semi-castles) added in version 4.8.2, and one map belongs to the Fortress category. The AI can finally recruit Ents. The game balance on maps and for factions has also been improved, and many technical errors have been fixed.
Edain started as a mod whose goal was to bring the game closer to the world of books and films. The developers added new heroes and abilities, divided the factions into separate armies, added new units, expanded construction mechanics, and the ability to give the hero one of the rings. Over time, the mod has expanded significantly: new maps, a campaign based on "The Hobbit", and an expanded War of the Ring mode have appeared.
