Fans are wondering what Nintendo's new publication could mean.
Nintendo has unexpectedly presented a four-minute animation called Close to You. The video appeared on YouTube, in the Nintendo Today app, and also on the company's social networks.
The story focuses on a baby left alone in the nursery. When the mother leaves the room, his pacifier suddenly comes to life and tries to escape. In the finale, the child takes his first steps to get the desired object back, and at the moment when the mother picks him up, the pacifier is back in his mouth. Then the screen goes dark, the Nintendo logo appears — and that's it.
Nintendo has provided no explanations or additional comments. The name Close to You only appears in the caption to the publication, it is not in the video itself. The characters are not named, the plot does not contain references to any known franchises, and the visual style is closer to Pixar cartoons than to the company's usual projects.
Commentators on social networks were completely confused. Questions quickly appeared under Nintendo's publication: "What was that?", "Why?", "Is this really Nintendo?". Users admit that they did not understand anything and are trying to figure out if there is any subtext hidden in the video.
Against the background of the upcoming экранизации Super Mario Galaxy, scheduled for 2026, and the launch of the internal animation studio Nintendo Pictures, some viewers suggested that Close to You is a test project or a teaser for a future film.
