The new season of "Ahsoka" promises a large-scale development of the plot and the return of key characters of the saga.
Actress Natasha Liu Bordizzo, who played Sabine Wren, has confirmed that principal photography for the second season of the series for Disney Plus has wrapped. Filming for the eight episodes lasted about five months.
Bordizzo shared a post on social media showing silhouettes of her character and Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), captioning the photo: "And as for this journey... it only gets more epic."
Filming for the second season began in late April at Pinewood Studios in the UK, just days after the Star Wars Celebration in Japan.
At the convention, showrunner Dave Filoni and series star Rosario Dawson hosted a panel to review the first season and discuss the new, larger-scale story.
At the same time, they confirmed that Hayden Christensen would reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker, Rory McCann would replace the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, and the new season would feature a full-scale war against Grand Admiral Thrawn led by Admiral Ackbar.
Among the other actors whose return has been confirmed are Eman Esfandi, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Lars Mikkelsen, David Tennant, and Ivanna Sakhno, who will reprise their roles from the first season.
Bryce Dallas Howard reported that she directed two episodes, and the other directors include Jennifer Getzinger, Anders Engström, and Dave Filoni himself, who wrote the scripts for all eight episodes.
The premiere of the second season of "Ahsoka" is scheduled for 2026 and, according to preliminary data, will take place at the end of summer, like the first season.
After that, Filoni will focus on a feature film, which he will write and direct himself. The film will be the culmination of the events of the MandoVerse and other related projects.
