Little Nightmares 3 has started receiving its first reviews from professional critics. Reviewers praise the game's atmosphere, musical score, and the ability to play through the nightmarish tale in cooperative mode. Among the downsides are sometimes strange animations, uninteresting boss battles, simple puzzles, and a weak plot.
As noted by GameSpot, Little Nightmares 3 is almost devoid of innovation; the game offers nothing that fans haven't already seen in the first and second parts, which were worked on by Tarsier.
