HBO has presented the first trailer for the series "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight". The show's events take place between "House of the Dragon" and "Game of Thrones" — a hundred years before the latter.
As in George Martin's original novellas, the story focuses on Ser Duncan the Tall — a young knight of humble origins — and his squire, Prince Aegon Targaryen. Traveling through Westeros under the names Dunk and Egg, they witness key events of the era. The first season will tell of their participation in the Ashford tournament.
The main roles are played by Peter Claffey (Duncan) and Dexter Sol Ansell (Egg). The season's directors are Owen Harris ("Black Mirror") and Sarah Adina Smith ("Lessons in Chemistry") — this is their first experience working in Martin's universe. Harris also joined the producers, and the script was prepared by Ira and Martin Parker, who previously participated in the creation of "House of the Dragon."
The premiere of "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" is scheduled for January 18, 2026. The series will be released on HBO and the Max streaming service.
