In Baldur's Gate 3, players can use "Dyes" to change the color of clothing and equipment. The item customization system has a significant drawback.
A user with the nickname mugijiang recently raised the issue with the naming of dyes again: they create confusion, and due to the lack of a preview system, the final result is not always obvious.
Discussion participants supported him:
- Blastoise_R_Us: "Some color names are very misleading"
- Mak0React0r: "God, I used red dye and dyed my clothes white."
- MyDarlingArmadillo: "I used purple and got screaming orange. I like orange, but I wanted purple to match my purple drow"
- Apoximage: "Indigo is the WORST. Use it on a full set of silver metallic armor and be surprised when everything turns ORANGE!!!".
The mod community has long offered a couple of solutions, but players would like to see improvements in the base version of the game.
- Better Dyeing by Caites — the modification "makes the dyeing interface faster and more convenient, and the dyes more recognizable in the inventory"
- Faerun Colors (Dye and color sets) by TechRoot — adds over a hundred additional dyes to the game with "an infinite number of uses and individual icons"
