In a new video, the developers showed the Burst mechanic — it freezes any clearances to score as many points as possible. Unlike Zone in Tetris Effect, Burst also lifts neighboring blocks of a different pattern into the air, after which they fall again. This is risky, but with the right strategy, it will allow you to build more combos.
In addition to Journey Mode with a wordless story, there is Survival Mode without pauses and with leaderboards, as well as training missions, Challenge, and the ability to create your own level playlist.
There are Burst Battle against AI or other players and a new Dig Down mode, where blocks need to be cleared to move down.
Lumines Arise will be released on November 11, 2025 on PS5 and PC with VR support. A free demo is available on PC as part of the Steam Next Fest.
