Prime Video has announced casting for the upcoming God of War series. It mentions several key characters, including Kratos himself. Judging by the description of the roles, the project will be an adaptation of the 2018 game - a kind of semi-reboot of the series, telling about an aging Kratos and his son Atreus.
As with most major castings, the studio uses fictional names to hide the true identities of the characters. The main character is listed as "Zion" - a man of 40-60 years, physically powerful, militant, who survived the death of his wife and has difficulty finding a common language with his ten-year-old son. Obviously, we are talking about Kratos - the former god of war who left Greece and is trying to start a new life in Scandinavia.
His son, listed under the name "Joshua", is described as a boy of 9-12 years old who desperately needs his father's approval. These traits are completely consistent with the image of Atreus. Among the minor roles are characters inspired by the gods of the Norse pantheon, including "Glen", a cunning manipulator in his middle years, and "Phoebe", a woman with three children trying to keep her family together.
It is separately noted that the actors for the roles of Phoebe and Glen should be prepared to participate in explicit scenes, including episodes with nudity.
