Genre classics continue to inspire creators.
Recently, publisher MicroProse Software presented the Darkenstein 3D project on Steam, developed by Rowye.
This is another retro shooter inspired by such classic representatives of the genre as Wolfenstein and DOOM:
Consider it a tribute, a love letter to the games that defined a generation, with a few of my own modern touches. It's challenging, fast-paced, and requires skill, just like those old-school shooters.
At the center of the story is a "furious American hobo" who got lost in enemy territory, armed with a single shotgun. The events unfold in 1940s Germany: numerical superiority does not frighten the protagonist, and he goes into battle to save his dog companion, Gunther, from captivity.
