Producer Motoi Okamoto explained on social network X why three projects were announced at once in 2022: the Silent Hill 2 remake, Silent Hill F, and Silent Hill Townfall. According to him, the company didn't want to "test the waters" with one remake, but rather to demonstrate that it was serious about reviving the brand.
"Working on a remake and a new installment at the same time is always a risk, but it's the only way to show commitment to the series. Players won't be interested in the franchise if they don't see its future. If the company waits, the audience waits too."
Earlier, he clarified that remakes are created not only for old fans:
"Even if we think about the veterans, a maximum of half of them return. Therefore, it is important to focus on new players as well."
His words came shortly after Silent Hill F received an announcement of a visual novel, and the film Return to Silent Hill, based on the second part, will be released next year.
