During the anime broadcast break, viewers will see a new story from the life of Maomao that was not in the original manga and novels.
The “The Apothecary Diaries” franchise is coming to the big screen. In December 2026, a feature film based on the series will premiere in Japanese cinemas.
The main difference is that it will be a completely original story written by the author of the novels himself, Natsu Hyuga. This was announced during a broadcast dedicated to the second anniversary of the anime.
The film takes place between the second and third seasons of the series. The script is not based on published chapters and was created specifically for the film adaptation. According to TOHO animation producers, the goal of the project is to show Maomao in a new situation and expand the world without repeating the events of the main plot.
The film is scheduled to premiere in Japan in December 2026, with an international release, including streaming, expected in 2027.
As a reminder, the third season was divided into two cours: the first will be released in October 2026, the second in April 2027. Thus, the showing of the feature film will fall during the break between the two parts of the third season.
