Tero Virtala has stepped down as CEO of Remedy Entertainment. The company announced this, stating that Markus Mäki, one of the studio's founders, has been appointed as interim CEO. The company has already begun the search for a new permanent head.
Tero Virtala had been leading Remedy Entertainment since 2016. Under his leadership, Control, Alan Wake 2, and FBC: Firebreak were released. The latter became a financial failure, causing losses of over 14 million euros.
Markus Mäki, a member of the board of directors since 1995 and its chairman until recently, is also part of the core management team responsible for production. Following his appointment as interim CEO, Mäki has stepped down as chairman of the board, retaining his position as a regular member of the board. Henri Österlund, a member of the board of directors since 2017, has become the new chairman.
